Barrel Inn,Dart Street/Watery Lane,

This is an old pub, demolished about 25 years ago.
I used it a lot in the early 80s,was run by an Irishman called Danny.Rough and ready, but never any real problems in my time.Specialised in 'afters',as did most in the area.
My friend moved into Dart Street in 1981,and we spent many visits there.
It's been replaced by a big car dealership now,and the road widening has changed the whole look of the area.
Anyone remember it?

Though I knew this pub well I never used it. In my younger years I passed it by many times whilst walking from Nechells to Balsall Heath. In later year when I was old enough (or looked old enough) to drink it was well off my beaten track so I never used it.

i remember the barrel from the 60s. i lived on st andrews rd for about 3 years, i thought it was on the corner of watery lane &kingston hill; i may be wrong as it was along time ago and memory fades.

To be honest pmcdermott I just got the address from google maps.

Kingston rd runs parallel to dart st,and the maisonettes are the same.I could easily have got the two mixed up.

Can you remember when the old houses were demolished, and the maisonettes were rebuilt?

sorry, i left there to go to yorkshire about 1967, i have been around that area quite often when i visit brum but i am usually going to see my mate in moseley. i remember dart st now, it ran to the right of the barrel; up through the maisonettes to the kingston picture house. it was still a picture house when i left brum.
