Baker & Sons, Baker Brothers or HH Baker Brassfounders

Brummie babby
My Great Grandfather Thomas Baker had a brass foundry on Cheapside founded about 1880. When his sons came of age it became Baker & Sons. After his death it became Baker Brothers and later the business was taken on by my Grandfather Herbert Henry Baker. From Cheapside he moved to 152 Mary St, Balsall Heath which had facilities for a small factory behind the house. I understand they manufactured brass fittings for safes. Apart from what my Mother was able to tell me I know nothing and would like to verify the details but not sure how to go about this. She did get somewhat confused sometimes and versions tended to change. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

Searching the directories from 1880, I could find not mention of likely firms under the names of Thomas or Herbert Baker or Baker Bros till 1900. It should be noted that the year is the publication year and prob baly refers to the year brfore:

1900 Baker Thomas, safe furniture maker, 115 Moseley street

1903 Baker Thomas, safe furniture maker, 156 Moseley street

1908-1910 Baker Thomas, safe furniture maker, 136 Moseley street

1912-1913 Not listed

1915 Baker, Thomas, brassfounder, 103½ Cheapside

1921-1924 Baker Thomas & Sons, brass founders, 103½ Cheapside

1932-1936 Baker Bros, brass founders, 103½ Cheapside

1937-1940 Baker Bros, brass founders, 152 Mary st

From 1943 the firm has gone

(Should note that address for 1903 is not a missprint for 156, as I have checked position in street)

Some electoral rolls are available online. the only online one mentioning the Bakers at 152 Mary St is in 1939 when Herbert Henry Baker is listed there. Either side, he is not listed there in 1935 or 1950

If the firm was very small then it is possible that in the period 1880-1900 it did not appear in Kellys.
