Hi all

I had a bit of a shock yesterday on the 1911 census I found my wife's father Samuel Baxter age 6.his sisters Nellie 18.Alice 9. and his father William 64. at A.U.W.C.H. under the heading of Institution.

Looking on the Workhouse web site I see that the Central Library has archives from 1889-1924 and I was wondering if anyone out there had cause to use them in the past and how comprehensive they might be before making a trip up there.

Any info would be appreciated. Regards Steerboy.

Hi Jennyann.

Many thanks for the link I went on it on Friday and was reminded that my CARN card has expired so that saved me a fools journey to the library.

Regards Steerboy
