Can any one on here tell me the only Division in British army to be reformed in 1941 and went on to be famous

Is it interest or what that no replies. It was the 51st Highland Division, who were captured at St Valery by General Rommel's 6th Panzer army in 1941 TWO WEEKS AFTER DUNKIRK. Reformed from sister division and then to EYGPT in 1942

There are certainly a number of Forum members who are interested in WW2 matters, serviceman. But what the Forum and vast majority of its members are looking for is new threads which have a direct and clear reference to the history of Birmingham and its inhabitants - in fact for that to be main thrust of the thread, rather than a connection to be tacked on to a general WW2 subject almost as an afterthought. General WW2 thread subjects would, frankly, be more appropriate to specialised WW2 forums rather than this one.

This thread, whilst of interest to general WW2 historians, has no obvious local reference and that is possibly why there has been no reaction from Forum members.

In this matter I was trying to draw attention to dates, every one knows about Dunkirk and as Churchill said THE BATTLE FOR FRANCE IS OVER. now the battle for Britain begins. How can this be true when Scottish troops were still fighting in France two weeks after Dunkirk. Namely 51st Highland Division

Serviceman this is the 'Birmingham History Forum' and to be honest I am struggling to see an obvious Birmingham link to this perhaps you could clarify. Otherwise as Chris has already suggested this would be better asked in dedicated forums.

Thanks
