  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

Yes, I saw that - there have been some great finds in the Midlands over the past few years :)
Obviously an important place to the Romans and Anglo Saxons!
 
Considering the Roman occupation lasted over four centuries it is not surprising lots of traces of them can be found all over Britain. They didn't all go home when mainland Europe was under attack from the East. Many were places settled ex soldiers, such places as the fort of Glevum (Gloucester) and others, remained. The street plans of them are those based on the Roman foundation. Invasions of Britain from northern and western parts of Europe eventually submerged the Roman culture.
