  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

Just doing a spot of tidying out and I came across this of my Aunts.
In case you have difficulty reading the scan its the place my Aunt Eva and Uncle Tom called home for many years all through the 60's.
From there they lived the rest of their days in Grove Lane, Handsworth.
I remember the place clearly and my Aunts dog Judy..they were never blessed with children themselves so pets tended to take on that role.
As you can see the Rent was One pounds five shillings a week..was that a lot back then?..I dont really know.
But I guess it gives a pointer to what people did pay all those years ago..
It had no front garden or bathroom, no hot water either..
I do know one thing, it was full of laughter and warm memories.
 
Les this was our rent and rates April 1961 here in Aldridge we had a one bedroom flat
