Hello A Bleach.Hi Charles and everyone else.
I am Mr. Bleach's son. Unfortunately, he sadly died earlier this month and I was fishing around here to see if there was any evidence behind the family myth that he was Jeff Lynne's Choir Master. It made me chuckle to hear he had a nickname. I'm not sure if it was an affectionate one or not but it has made me smile anyway. Thank you for posting.
Just to correct your photo ID - my Dad (Mr. Bleach with an 'L') was on the right of the back row.
Sorry to here about your dad passing, He did have that nick name you know but it was in good fun. He used to teach us music notes by clapping our hands to the note and the length of the note was the timed pause with our hands together doing the beat. On some days we did not quite get it right and he got a bit frustrated with us ( crotchety ) lol. His favourite question to us was ( what is this note )........ eerr a doted crotchet sir, very good ! was his reply. That is how his nick name came about together with the beard.
I remember him coming in some days to play music on a record player. It was usually classical but on that day it was ( A Whiter Shade of Pale ) Procol Harum and ( Penny Lane ) by The Beatles 1967. When ever I hear those two songs come on the radio I think of Mr Bleach and how good it was to play our pop music, he was ok!
I also got enlisted to sing at the town hall with him. Are well, I hope this little snippet brings a smile at this moment in time, thanks for the memories .
Kind regards Charles G
