Advice For My Kids

Hasten not your life away
Love and savour every day
Spend not your time in idle complaint
Ne’er act the martyr, nor the saint
Recall first, the better events of life
And rapidly discard the trouble and strife
for life’s precious gift was meant for living
And to enjoy the simple pleasure of giving
So try to be happy, and a lot less sad
Just a portion of life’s advice to you all, from Dad

 How on earth did I miss that one... It's great Colin.

Mazbeth as Has been said before, it's good having new blood on the forum, when these older posts get a new airing

Yes indeed - revisited poetry is part of this forum. It's like reading a favourite book over and over. The moving finger writes - but in this case it doesn't move on - it stays for us to ENJOY :)

To a point I agree with Kate that the moving finger writes and, having writ, moves on: nor all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, nor all thy tears wash out a word of it.

Life comes full circle with advice given in your poem
