As I think, so I am,
Or so the saying goes.
What I am and what I do,
Oft brings on many woes.
Action is preceded by thought,
Here then lies the rub.
Thought contains knowledge
On which many a toe we stub.
If I am what I think,
My future is but the sum
Of all the knowledge ever gained,
And then applied with wisdom.
I am the soul of all my thoughts
Yet wisdom oft evades me.
For I am blinded by my pride,
And who but I can save me.
So I seek the wisdom of the sages
Where ere they may be found,
In spoken word or deed
Or times forgotten pages.
Wisdom gained I hope will be sound,
But increase in acumen is but a trial
Of how I use my awareness.
In Solomons steps I try to tread,
That I to will treat mankind with fairness.
Or so the saying goes.
What I am and what I do,
Oft brings on many woes.
