A Yard in Art Gallery Street. 1910

When I watch people paint with water colours, I often think how slapdash they appear to be, they seem not to be paying attention to detail - then when I view the end result - its breathtaking and the details are either discreetly there or hinted at very carefully - my favourite medium I think.

I knew a lady who had a water colour paintbox 6"x4", maybe with about 10 blocks of colours in it, and postcard size watercolour paper to match. She carried them both in her handbag and if she saw something when she was out, she would paint it. The results way exceeded what she herself thought of these little paintings.

Keep 'em coming Di they are lovely
