The cold wind blew down old Summer Lane
It wuz mekin a mockery out of its name
It wus gettin quite parky in Burlington Street
In Nechells the snow and ice lay thick under the feet
It wunt a night to travelling around the streets of Brum
Everyone should have bin locked up in the warmth of thier hum
An old owl wuz coffin and wheezing in New John Street West
On a washing line in Phillips Street was blowing a small tatty vest
The House Of Jack Built stood empty and dark in the night
But tommorrow it'd be full of kids screaming with delight
In Handsworth the posh kids were finishing thier suppers
While in Lozells the Dads were fitting new soles to old uppers
In Cowper Street School in the corner of the old playground
A three legged, one eared old mongrel was scratchin around
Now tek Rupert Street, whovever named that wernt thinkin of the bear
And what about Love Lane, I daint see much of that going on there
Aston Hall quietly sleeping with the lake and the park all around
Just down the road stood a lonely Aston Villa football ground
The pubs were throwin the last of the lingering drinkers into the snow
They're locking up at the Aston Hipp after another first class show
I hope you've enjoyed our trip through this suburb of inner city Brum
And next time your round here, don't forget  "Come In An Mek Ya Self At Um"
