This company ad was 1951. I know they were sill trading in the 1970's.
I guess many people here had their brass and white covered aluminium rails fitted in their homes.
Plastic has taken the place of most metal rails but for very heavy, long or non domestic uses I would guess that these rails might still be in vogue.

I have now seen their liquidation report.

My husband said his mother used to make those little wheeled curtain runners at home for "piece-work". A man used to deliver the parts in bags and take away the completed ones.

They might have, but I feel that Swish, being a more modern product, may have caused the 505 demise. Swish are located in Cannock, Staffs. currently.
 
Harrisons 'Superglide' and 'Drape' rails. Similar purpose but a different company I believe. Maybe they are now merged. Anybody's guess.
