Hi
I am quite new to using Trade Directories and I'm probably being dim, but I'm not sure why Great Hampton Row would be listed as 151 Constitution Hill or Great King Street as 163 Hockley Hill?

Best wishes
Alison

I think it might refer to the address they start at. Could be wrong though.
So Gt Hampton Row meets Constitution Hill at 151.
Not able to confirm via a map at the moment but will look later unless someone else does it first.

Yes. You are correct. In the list of streets at the beginning of the directories the sec o nd st and the number shows where the first st meets the second. This is of particular use to researchers if a street changes it's name. Then it is possible to set er mine that both named streets are in the same place, and thus are identical, but one has been renamed.

Thanks Janice and Mike. Sort of thought that might be a reason but really didn't know for sure and haven't got a great knowledge of the streets and roads in town. Really appreciate both of your help. This site is amazing. :)
