  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

    The photo is of the charger in the Draw Bench Department which would be loaded with long lengths of tubes and placed in long furnaces to be annealed. The guy in the photo bending forward is my dad Bob Collingwood

    As Pedrocut said it was more than likely Tubes ltd where your Great Grandfather worked and probably in the Draw Bench department or the Forging Department both departments did the process you mention.

    Last week was the first time I returned to tubes since February 1986 All.the overhead cranes have gone and the haze of smoke.The circular saws no longer cut the billets from random lengths and cut lengths of tube to produce top quality forging such as Salisbury 13655/6 ,Bmc 9001 and many more...
