    Midland Red Around Birmingham.

Just trawling through this thread and noticed nobody seems to have answered your query. The 118 was worked jointly by Bearwood and Sheepcote Street but there were also some peak time only workings by Digbeth more often than not being noticable for using Leyland LD8's at a time when D7's were...

    Birmingham Trams

Ticket clippings were sorted by a team of girls at the Ticket Audit office attached to Hockley Garage. This was where new ticket stocks were held for distribution to the garages and survived into the days of the ticket rolls used in the Ultimate ticket machines that replaced the Bell Punch rack...

    New Street Station 1967

Yes there definitely were escalators located between the Bus Station and Indoor Markets. Going out of the station through the doors to the right of the toilets you then turned left on to them.

Great selection of Reds there thanks Rob, have you any information on when and where the photo of the two D7's was taken please?

    Midland Red Around Birmingham.

For a good many years of my working life Ragga, although most were a bit cleaner than that one:friendly_wink: I certainly enjoyed driving for the Red and luckily still get to drive 'real' Midland Reds for the Midland Museum of Transport at Wythall. Keep these photos coming Ragga I love 'em. In...

Great photos. Drove all these types. Pic 1 D9, pic 2 S21, pic 3 LD8 and pic 4 another D9 in not so attractive National Bus Co. corporate livery. Great memories for this ex Digbeth Midland Red man. Thank you for posting them Ragga. Bishopsmate, the service you mentioned was the 179 from...

    The hiberion

Hard to believe it is over 3 years since Astonian started this thread but just to say the Dogpool/Hibernian is still open but now called "The New Dogpool Hotel". Went past it last Saturday but didn't call in.

100 Years of British Buses and Trolleybuses

That's an interesting photo Trevor. The Birmingham trolleybus was actually a Leyland demonstator that was loaned to Birmingham to try out. It originally ran in Brum with fleet number 17 from March to July 1933 then went back to Leyland. In July 1936 it was back again as fleet number 68 and ran...

    See Birmingham by Post Card

G.S. Cooper is a well known artist specialising in buses and trams. His paintings are available as prints, greetings cards or post cards. In his Aston painting the tram track is correct and known as interlaced track, allowing trams to run without single line working in narrower streets, relying...

    Midland Red Early Days

Fantastic photo. Trevor and I both drove on the 175 in the 1960's/70's by which time the road had been widened and the bridge renewed to as it is now. I didn't know of this accident so thank you for posting about it. It would be interesting to know the number of the single deck involved.

    Midland Red Early Days

Great photos Trevor. A pair of BMMO S14 type Midland Red single deckers. (The ones with single back wheels - not nice on wet and icy roads). 4573 on the X73 Birmingham - Cheltenham service has just arrived at the Royal Well Bus Station in Cheltenham. Digbeth Garage used to work this route...

    Ten Acres Stirchley

Re: Ten Acres and Stirchley Co op As there were no Q series vehicle registrations at the time of two letters and four figures it has to be an OV on the coach - which makes it registered in Birmingham.

    Rotunda

The Rotunda is a Birmingham icon but how many people know there is another one in Hungary. This post card of the Hotel Budapest came as a surprise to me.
