it sounds as if your gt, gt grandmother suffered quite a lot before she died. It must have been an awful time for the family with two new babies in the house too.

I didn't look at the 1861 census I just quickly checked the 1871 and 1881 for another child the same age as David. If I had checked the 1861 - or bothered to check the ages of the children to Wife Emily I would have realised there must have been another wife - Mary A. How sad she perhaps lost...

How strange heir hunters mentioned times on birth certs this morning!
It looks like 12 h 55mins pm to me too and as I had just seen heir hunters I looked for a birth/death of a Palmer twin but couldn't find one (that's not to say there isn't one - just I can't find one)
David is on 1871 and 1881 with no other child of the same age.
