Hello Judy, I think we have spoken before?
Anyway, there is a Arthur P. Blackmore 15912 Worcester Reg. But not your man sorry.
However.... Joseph Henry Blakemore was a Gunner regimental number 190766 - 119th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery
Death 25th August 1918 - Buried St. Sever...
As a suggestion I would approach the church directly, https://www.stbarnabaserdington.org.uk/contact/
The rev I was speaking to has now moved on and so my contact details will now be out of date.
They will have an archive for sure.
Hope this is of some use?
I am happy you like the article.
I have already this morning added another name from the memorial and so I will go alphabetically as best I can.
The cost to make the memorial as it was is £60.000
However, it has come to light that Erdington High street is to be revamped.
And so, I contacted...
Its been some time since we communicated.
This is partially because I have been busy and also I locked myself out of the Facebook page by accident.
Now I can access the Great War memorial Facebook page again I can restart my efforts to populate it.
I am unsure if you have visited the page or...
I have started to add photos and sort biography's to the Facebook page (Erdington Great War memorial)
If you would like to take a peek and give some feed back it would be most appreciated.
Thanks for posting the photo, I will add this to my records.
As for the missing 1914 Star, well a relative must have had possession at some point.
Start with the next of kin, then any descendants and try and find living relatives.
I fear its the only way, but its very possible.
Yes I have Harold E. Pitt - 5046 of the coldstream guards on my list of names.
Well firstly, I would like any further information you may have inc a photo if possible.
I would like to know his occupation - parents names and wife.
This helps putting forward the case for the new memorial.
OK guys, I have started a face book page, here is the link above.
Now I know some people dont like face book, but it is the best starting point
to get publicity to replace the lost great war memorial in St. Barnabas church.
Now I have to point...
Yes, I am happy to keep everyone up to speed.
I am using Facebook because it has a wider audience.
To make this happen we need to spread the word far and wide.
I am new to what I am about to do, I have not the practice or experience, but if face book helps then so be it.
I hope all will...
Hi Guys, well I have been in meetings this week with local councillors, and I have decided to start with a Facebook page.
I will name it Erdington Great War Memorial should you be inquisitive.
Tell your mates please and lets get things moving.
Hope you like it.
I want to start a new thread only to encourage those who may not know.
In 2007 we lost the Great War memorial in a fire at St. Barnabas Church in Erdington.
Well after two years of research and what not, it seems we have the go ahead to make a new
I have a full list of names...
