My dad worked for James Booth for many years which was on Cuckoo Bridge, Nechells. He had a few football medals from them during the 1940s. Has anyone got any photos or memories of this company? He made ma a hula hoop and I travelled on the inner circle 8 to Aston and then (I think) the No 7 bus up to Cuckoo Bridge picked it up and travelled back again on 2 buses with my prized hula hoop.

My Grandfather worked for James Booth & Company Ltd from 1931. He had a 25 year gold watch in 1956 and worked past his normal retirement date for a couple of
years. Most of that time he lived in Erdington.

Unlikely, but would be a bonus if your father was in the Rolling Mill football team from 1948!

fantastic photos again bob....wouldnt it be great if carolinas dad was in one of them..

thanks

lyn

Lynn it would be. He was a viewer whatever that was. I remember a photo of him working there with a brown overall on but over time its got lost. I have only found out recently from my eldest brother that he wasn't conscripted in the war due to war work in the factory.

hi carol so your dad is not in any of the new photos that bob has posted?

lyn

No Lynn not on any of them, certainly was the same era with the partings down the middle of the hair and he must have been by a furnace as mom used to put food into a metal container and dad used to put it into it to heat it up.
Was always going to be a longshot, no worries. At least you have a few shots of the environment your father worked in.
Was happy to help - sorry it took me 9 years to reply!
