I was there too!! Alf Kent, the ex wrestler and referee, who I think lived in Muntz Street, got front row tickets for my brother & me. He took us into the bar afterwards to meet Billy Two Rivers, who sadly died recently.

This Birmingham play about the Middlemore homes is available, via Balsall Heath History Society, on YouTube. It's quite a long play but well worth the watch!!
