I think this is very interesting because as a family they were traditionally Brassfounders and thimblemakers. I wonder if 102 was the 'workshop' foundary that made the token? It would be interesting to see this. Thanks again
I have found a newspaper article dated 1870. There may a possibility that number 102 was part of thisl letting? Or as it was onthe corner of Richard Street perhaps the numbering sysytem came firm there? George Lowe mentioned ar 61 Bartholomew Street is very much the same man: 61 Bartholomew...
Oh thank you for the map. I did a search on this site and found a previous post from 2009 under the titled Pubs in Bartholomew Street (Little Italy) and on there it states the Waggon and Horses was definitely number 61 and closed in 1943, given that date, hopefully a photo might...

Hello I am researching my paternal relation George LOWE b1819 Birmingham. The census (Midlands Electoral Register and 1871 Census) states he ran the Waggon and Horses at 61 Bartholomew Street from 1864 until 1875. He then moved onto the Gas House Tavern Upper Windsor Street (I'll list this one...
Thanks Astoness. I agree it is a wonderful photograph with its vast array of hats! I was hoping the photo would have names etc written on the reverse but sadly no. I have traced my family to Berners Street around this time and in fact lived her upto the 1940/50s and was hoping the photo might...
I did wonder if having a Gun Club attached to a pub was a good idea, especially after a few pints! Thanks for checking. I do have access to the Newspaper articles on FMP so I will check it out, though I oftern get side tracked reading the news of the day: fascinating! Joanne
I found this photo on Ebay as my family (Cox and Lowe) have history to Berners Street. Does anyone have any information on the New Inn Shooting Club. The date is unknown. Thanks
