What is the archaeological story of Greater Birmingham before becoming part of Mercia (pre-Saxons and Danes)? What kingdoms and tribes were its peoples a part of? What were its placenames? Are any still in use today, or at least an echo?

Thomas Bibbins was a Breeches-maker located at 91 Pinfold Street, Birmingham in 1775/1776 and on Lower Temple Street in 1777. He, or his father, may have been a former Grenadier pensioner. I'm interested in more detailed information on older and more recent genealogy of the Bibbins family and...
