Hello fellow B.H.F members, it's been a while, but I could really do with some help here.
I'm trying to trace a lady's late Father, the identity of whom was not known until recently. (i.e no name of Father on birth certificate).
I have scant information to go on, other than the following:
The gentleman (Father) was of Asian descent and a consultant/ Physician at Hospitals in Birmingham and Derbyshire. (possibly Pediatrics)
He was possibly born around 1923.
He went by the name of Michael, however this is believed to be an adopted name as he was likely to be of Sikh ancestry.
He was a man, said to be of considerable wealth, who lived in a large semi-detached house with a huge rear garden in Great Barr.
At one point he had considered building a swimming pool in the rear garden but I do not know if this ever came to fruition.
The road was on an incline and on the corner of the said street, stood an off-licence. (I do not know if the off-licence stood alone, or if it was part of a row of other retail premises).
At present, I'm trying to identify possible houses or street locations in Great Barr where the house may have been.
I'm also undertaking research into his medical background but without a name, this is obviously difficult.
Would there have been many consultants of Asian descent working in the Birmingham health service during 1969/70 ?
If anyone can shed any light on possible contenders for the street location or any medical staffing resources etc, it would be most helpful.
In short, the person whom I'm trying to assist, grew up never knowing the identity of their Father until the above details were recently furnished by a relative.
I would love to identify this man and provide an answer to their lifelong question of, Who was may Father?
