    Problem sorted. Just recieved Thomas's sons marriage cert. Thomas and Alfred are down as being Osier cutters. It is the cutting of willow for basket making etc...Would never have got that from the handwriting.

    Thanks for your replies guys, George Hartland married Elizabeth Morris in 1852. So they must be on the 1861 census somewhere.
