What is this Occupation & location?

The Ellen Crook here is I think one of my direct relatives that ended up in Birmingham. I haven't pieced it all together yet but what would be of help is if someone can read the Occupation of her father William Crook please.

Also, I know it is outside the territory here but their residence appears to be on the corner of Houghton Lane, Hoghton, Preston and Boars Head Lane but where is this today?

Thanks very much Shera, the occupation stuck in my head as "2way main" for some reason and I couldn't see anything else!
