Before the club moved in during Easter 1897 it was the show place of the Midlands. On the
space where football is played nowadays there was a lake! Entertainments
incuded an aquarium, bowling green, rifle range, tennis courts ,flower shrubs, theatre and concert hall with sub tropical gardens The legendary W.G.Grace
played representative cricket approximately on the site of Nelson Street whilst patrons also enjoyed Cowboy and Indian wild west live shows 1886
Tarrif:, bread and butter, pot of tea and cake 9d (3 and 3/4 new pence)
thats better than Tesco's today! Hope this stirs up some thoughts WAK:shock:
