Hello there.
I'm looking for information on John and Daniel Smallwoods firm with the
factory in Leopold Street.
(Smallwood’s manufactured rulers, squares, spirit levels, gauges and tapes. I know the company was started in 1810 and to Highgate in the 1860’s. Have also been told that the remains of the firm were taken on by Gibson and Co who continue to supply top end hand tools.)
I don't know where the company was between 1810 and the 1860's.
At the present I'd be interested in any information, memories/recollections from anyone who worked there, information on the production of rulers, sourcing of wood and materials and manufacturing process etc.
Many thanks
