Messrs, Mason’s shop, Oldbury

Passertby

knowlegable brummie
Hi I'm a Newbie to this site.

Could someone help?

My Grandfathers brother, Ernest Drayton, was killed in a road accident in Oldbury in 1915.

It says the deceased had been employed as a grocers assistant for sometime at Messrs, Mason’s shop, Oldbury

I have seen a picture on here of a shop in Oldbury from about 1977, it says on the frontage George Mason. Is this george mason and messrs masons the same shop?

Thanks

George Mason was a chain of retail grocers with many shops all over the midlands, so it's quite possible your relative worked at the shop pictured.
