Does anyone have any idea what this was, my gggrandfather had this down as his occupation.

In the dictinary of occupational terms it states

Tube Screwer

Machines screw-threads on to tubes under eight inches in diameter.

I wonder if they all used some sort of lathe or whether some struggled with the old stock and die - whatever, it's an interesting thread.

If it was under 8 inches, I would imagine it would be done with stocks and dies, killer on the wrists. :(

Would this be related to what my Grandmother did as an occupation??

She had Screw Turner as her occupation - I am just sort of wondering where she would have worked around Aston and what her job involved. Whether it is more to do with screw making than tubes perhaps?
