* Do you have a WILLIAM HIPKISS and MARY PRICE in your family tree? They were married in 1892, there were at least 4 girls (Lilly b1887, Leah b1889, Elsie b1897 and Ellen b1900) and 1 boy (William b1905 - my grandfather). Lilly and Leah may be known with surname Price. Mary died Q2 1910 aged 42yrs - my grandfather was 4.5yrs. William died in 1913 when my grandfather was 7.5yrs.

I believe my great grandfather was William Hipkiss b Mar 1866 for the following reasons:
A William Hipkiss was 47yrs old when he died in Q1 1913, Birmingham (vol 6d p280). Most of the other male Hipkiss' that died between 1905 (year grandfather born) and 1914 (year grandfather went into orphanage) in that district were either elderly (in their 60‘s or 70s) or infants. William Hipkiss (b Mar 1866 - 6d, p169) was the only one who would be an appropriate age to be a father to Bill. Another five factors supporting that this William was indeed Bill’s father: Bill was admitted to the orphanage in 1914, the year after William’s death in 1913; it was common for fathers to pass down their Christian name to their sons; my dad remembered his father saying he was orphaned at 7yrs old (in Q1 1913, he would have been 7yrs); my aunt remembered grandpa's mother's name being Mary (whom another aunt is named after) and this William married a Mary Price in Mar 1892; and there were at least four elder sisters (5-18yrs older than grandpa) supporting the memory that grandpa went to live with his elder sister and her family after leaving the orphanage in 1920.

This William (b1866) had a brother James (b1867) and an elder sister Emma (b1861) - perhaps more elder siblings but I can't see the earlier census records. James may have died in Birmingham in 1941, aged 73yrs as the ages correlate.

Or anyone related to a Richard Hipkiss who married a Hannah Preston in 1815? Or Thomas Hipkiss (c1827-30)?

Richard and Hannah Hipkiss had a son Richard in 1815 in Birmingham, and I was wondering if Richard and Hannah might also be the father of Thomas Hipkiss (c1827-30). Thomas and his wife Martha had a son William Hipkiss (b1866) who fathered my grandfather William Hipkiss (b1905).

The reason for the possible link is: Thomas' second son was named Richard (sadly died as an infant); and Thomas was living with the children of Richard b1815 in the 1841 census.

Any relations?
