A really good read, written by Harry himself, he kept a diary of his everyday account of his experience during World War one, He was with the Birmingham Pals battalion of the Royal Warks regiment.
 
Thanks Eddy, I see the book's on kindle, so I'll be having a look at it.
A book I'd also like to recommend is titled "Mud Blood and Bullets", by Edward Rowbotham. The book was edited by his granddaughter, Janet Turner.
The author grew up in Bloxwich and joined the South Staffs. in the Great War, transferring later to the machine Gun Corps.
The book describes his life in the Black Country, in the years before the war and despite Edward's experiences in the fighting, is a real pleasure to read.
