I went to innumerable gigs at this fine old venue, on several occasions trying my hand at photography with my first camera, an Instamatic! Results were not surprisingly underwhelming, although this one of The Great Rory Gallagher stands out.

I did better with my first SLR camera, mentioned elsewhere. Coming soon: Paul Simon, Hayward & Lodge, and Genesis at the Hippodrome. Watch this space!

I also saw the great man there, three, maybe four times. Once from the choir stalls behind the stage, maybe 1975. Also the infamous November gig, when the band & gear were held up by fog, he then did an acoustic set, with Donal playing piano I think, and someone else on drums? Next week, another free concert with the whole band - he was always loved in Brum. Saw him at the Odeon, Hummingbird?
