  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

Found this very interesting information on Phyllis Nicklin, whose photographs of Birmingham scenes have become famous over the years and are now mostly on line.Many people knew about Phyllis Nicklin but there wasn't any information available about her life. Thanks for posting this, she was quite remarkable and I would like to know more about her life. There is that one picture that Wendy posted showing her as a shadow in an image, always the same with photographers, they are never in the picture.

Also having problem accessing photos at U of Brum:


the link opens, but then gives you:

I agree Janice. It doesn't for me either, but the "Sorry" note referred to javascript, and I thought no one used it now and possibly it does not now work on Google

I wondered that - doesn't stop us looking at the pictures but annoying.
 
Just realised I can't edit a post anymore.
Tried adding the site to "allow javascript£ but it didn't work. Is it because the site has "not secure" at the start of its address
 
On a number of sites, including the British museum (before it was hacked and went down) the portions using javascript could not be used at all. that was why I suggested the reason. A computer expert will have to tell you if "enable javascript" works
