Odeon, Birmingham New Road/Hagley Road

The attached photo has the following caption - Odeon, Birmingham New Road/Hagley Road West July 1953. In 1961 it became a bowling alley.

However, not sure that this is correct. Can anyone identify this Odeon Cinema as being in this position or perhaps recognise it as being sited somewhere else?

Thanks for your help.

It looks like the Odeon at Bearwood that would have been on the Hagley Road as I remember.

Could it be the Odeon Cinema on Smallbrook Queensway?1706993110782.png

An interesting snippet of information: Oscar Deutsch, the owner of the Odeon chain, who lived in Edgbaston used to take his weekend party guests to the Warley Odeon on Sundays to private showings of the latest films before they were on general release. The advertising slogan for Odeon was Oscar Deutsch Entertains Our Nation.

At the time in the 1930s there was what was known as Odeon Style of Architecture as the same architect designed many of the Odeon cinemas at that time.
One wonders if it was just one architect who designed all the tower blocks that went up in Birmingham in the 1960s....;)

Happy memories going to the Warley Odeon on a Friday evening with my Mother and Father. A long walk from West Boulevard, up Wolverhampton Road South to reach the Cinema.
