Charabanc Outing

My photo is around 1922-3. (The Rhyl one).
I wonder if the "mystery objects" in the Bird's picture are periscopes for looking over a crowd?

I think they had hoods that covered that covered all the seating, if I'm wrong I'm sure somebody will put me right.

Yes indeed most had folding hoods of varying strength and effectiveness! Speaking with my bus enthusiast hat on the first in the line isn't actually a charabanc but all the others are...

Presumably this was either about to set off on an outing or all the passengers are in the pub (the White Swan, Harborne). It's about 1920s and has a name above the engine and a logo on the side. No idea what they say. Viv.
